It’s party time at the Branford Compassion Club Feline Rescue & Adoption Center.

Yes, the cats are throwing an open-house party Sunday, March 29 from 1-3 p.m. at the 2037 Foxon Road venue to thank their donors and sponsors and celebrate the shelter’s 9th anniversary. Visitors will be greeted by volunteers, a glass of wine or Shirley Temple and plenty of nibbles to nosh.

The shelter had a rough year financially in 2019, but its generous supporters answered the call for support to help keep open the doors of the 22-year-old feline rescue and adoption nonprofit.

“Our sustaining sponsorship program really made the difference,” says BCC President Peg Johnson. “If it weren’t for our supporters committing to regular monthly or yearly donations, we might not be able to celebrate this anniversary. If you’ve never visited our shelter, I encourage you to stop by the March 29th party or during our regular Saturday hours of 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Our cats are happy and well cared for, thanks to our dedicated volunteers and our even more dedicated Shelter Manager Lianne Soucy. I’m proud of our organization and the wonderful work we do.”

BCC not only helps cats, but also helps people who care enough about cats to seek help for an abandoned cat living outside or help those who are no longer able to physically or financially care for their own cats, which can be a heartbreaking and stressful situation.

While no donations will be solicited at the open-house party, information about becoming a sustaining sponsor or donating to BCC may be found at its website at http://www.branfordcompassionclub.org.
