BCC Celebrates its 25th Anniversary

Branford Compassion Club (BCC), a feline rescue and adoption organization, is in its 25th year of saving felines and controlling the homeless feline population in Branford and nearby communities.

25th ANNIVERSARY GALA
Friday, September 23

On Friday, September 23, BCC will celebrate this milestone with a gala at Pine Orchard Yacht & Country Club in Branford. A celebratory dinner, with special guest songwriter Julie Gold, is planned. Gold is best known for her 1991 Grammy Award-winning song “From a Distance,” which, as recorded by Bette Midler, peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. In addition, Branford philanthropist, arts and theater impresario Colin Sheehan, who, among his many duties, serves as the town’s Arts, Culture & Special Events Coordinator, will be the Master of Ceremonies for the evening.

BCC is currently offering combined sponsorship packages ranging from $500 to $5,000 for the gala in September and its annual Animal Awareness Day on October 2.

ANIMAL AWARENESS DAY 2022
Annual Blessing of the Animals
Sunday, October 2

The Branford Compassion Club Feline Rescue & Adoption Center looks forward to once again hosting Animal Awareness Day noon – 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2022 on the Branford Town Green.

It’s a fun day for everyone, including music, children’s activities, food trucks, live animals (mini horses!), live animal educational demonstrations, a giant bake sale, booths featuring a variety of area animal care and rescue groups, as well as craft and business vendors, and you never know what other surprises may happen! This year we have use of the entire green and will be utilizing the giant “circus-style” tent that will still be on the Green from events held prior to ours. There will be an option for you to either be under the large tent or bring your own. More on that later if you sign up!

The highlight of the day, as always, will be the Blessing of the Animals at 1:30 p.m., the annual nod to the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, large and small. An interesting array of pets always makes their way to the Green to be blessed by local clergy from several denominations. In past years, that parade has ranged from dogs, cats and gerbils to horses, rabbits and birds.

Check out our event program for Animal Awareness Day coming up October 2nd!  It’s a fun day for the whole family so please stop by.  Lots to see and do.  We are excited this year to welcome WPLR celebrities AJ & Ashley from the popular, top-rated morning radio show, Chaz & AJ.  Please stop by their booth to say hello.

We will also be collecting cat food and shelter supplies at the event.  You can find out what we currently need by looking at our Amazon Wish List or our list on Chewy.com.

We do regret that even though the original publicity flyer states that the Resources in Search and Rescue dog organization will be there, they had to cancel at the last minute.

A special thanks to all our sponsors who make this day possible, and to the vendors and rescue groups joining us!

Our feline rescue has weathered many storms during its 25-year history, but thanks to generous donors and dedicated volunteers, we continue to fulfill our mission, and we look forward to the next 25 years. Thank you for your time and consideration!
