Dear Friend of the Branford Compassion Club,
The Branford Compassion Club is once again able to participate in the Community Foundation of New Haven’s- The Great Give on May 5-6, 2020, during the hours of 8:00am – 8:00pm!
You can support the Branford Compassion Club by making a donation on line– thegreatgive.org.
Be sure you select the Branford Compassion Club as your donor choice!
This year the Konopacke Fund at The Community Foundation has generously set aside $10,000 for a Great Give match pool that will be pro-rated by the number of donors to approximately 11 organizations that provide shelter to animals.
Our organization is on the list!
This means that we will get a pro-rated portion of the $10,000 based on the number of unique donors who make gifts between April 6 and May 6 at 8:00 p.m. For instance, if all of the eligible organizations have a total of 1,000 donors combined, then each donor we get will earn $10 for your organization.
Additionally, if you are a Branford resident, by donating to The Great Give, you will be able to further help the Branford Compassion Club!
The Branford Community Foundation will be awarding one $500 prize during The Great Give!
Our organization is eligible due to its participation in The Great Give and our organization’s location in Branford.
Please share and encourage family members, friends and neighbors to support the Branford Compassion Club during The Great Give!
Please mark your calendars for May 5 & 6, and take the time to donate!
We need every penny raised to continue to support our mission to neuter, vaccinate, test and provide medical intervention for every feline that passes through our doors!
Our Cats Need YOUR Help! As we find our way through this historical time with the current COVID-19 crisis, we need your help more than ever! Be a part of making a BIG impact on your community and help make giving history during The Great Give 2020!
Please join our campaign and help us reach our goal!

Branford Compassion Club 2019 Year End Report
Dear Friends,
What a year we had! We took in 283 felines, found forever homes for 223, spayed/neutered 47 and returned them to their feral colonies, enhanced the shelter with newly painted, renovated rooms and cat furniture, expanded our donor database, researched and pursued new grant-making organizations, and found thousands of new friends on Facebook.

For most non-profits, every year is financially challenging, but 2019 was especially so for Branford Compassion Club. Over the summer months, our financial situation caused us to freeze new intakes to the shelter. In response, BCC added three more fundraisers to its calendar and created a sustaining sponsorship program on its website for supporters to donate monthly. We informed our supporters and the media about our uncertain fate and word of our financial troubles travelled fast. The Board of Directors and volunteers are so very grateful to everyone who came to our aid, whether donating through our monthly sponsorship program or offering assistance and words of encouragement. In times of adversity, you really do know who your friends are. And we know ours. We are happy to report we ended the year in the black, thanks to you!
This year, however, brings an additional challenge, one we share with the whole community and country: the COVID-19 virus. At this time, Branford Compassion Club Feline Rescue & Adoption Center remains closed to the public, but we continue our mission of caring for homeless felines. Adoption applications are still being processed and approved adopters will be notified by email or phone. Applications can be downloaded here.
We look forward to the future, even though many challenges lie ahead of us. Our volunteers are dedicated, and our supporters are compassionate and generous. Together we will continue to give homeless, abandoned, and feral cats a better life.
Thank you!
Best Wishes,
Margaret (Peg) Johnson

2020 Kitten Appeal
Dear Friends of the Branford Compassion Club,
Kitten season is here and we need your help!
Although the kittens are adorable, the large numbers of moms and babies coming into our shelter, places a great financial burden on our already limited resources!
Each Momma Cat and kitten needs to be vaccinated and neutered or spayed, greatly increasing our veterinary bills over the next few months!
We also experience an increased expense, that is supply related – food, litter and cleaning, etc.!
This year, however, brings an additional challenge, one we share with the whole community and country: the COVID-19 virus.
At this time, Branford Compassion Club Feline Rescue & Adoption Center remains closed to the public, but we continue our mission of caring for homeless felines.
We have had to cancel many events and our cats need your help!
How can you help support these adorable babies and their mom’s?

BCC Holds Two Winter Fundraisers to Benefit Homeless Cats
Branford Compassion Club Feline Rescue & Adoption Center kicks off 2020 with two fundraisers to keep the kitties warm and fed this winter. The first is a food and supply drive on Saturday, January 25 (snow date is Feb 1) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its shelter, located at 2037 Foxon Rd. The kitties’ wish list includes Purina Friskies Chicken or Turkey Pate, Blue Buffalo Healthy Gourmet Chicken or Turkey Pate for cats or kittens, Earthborn Feline Primitive dry cat food and Yesterday’s News cat litter. For a complete wish list, please click here.
BCC’s second fundraiser, “Hearts for Cats,” runs during the entire month of February. It’s the purrfect gift for your valentine cat lover. With a donation of $25 or $50 you can dedicate a heart on BCC’s Donor Wall Tree of Life to that special valentine or pet. Pink hearts can be purchased with a $25 donation and red hearts with a $50. The name of that special person or pet will be inscribed on the pink or red heart painted on the donor wall tree. All donations will benefit the BCC homeless cats.
BCC is in great need of volunteers at the shelter to help feed, clean and socialize our cats. There are immediate opening for morning and evening shifts. Volunteer application forms can be found on the website or call 203-483-6369. You can also stop by any Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cats and kittens will surely help you get rid the winter blues and put a smile on your face.
